I supervised the 3D team on this job as well as the shoot out in LA. This was certainly one of the biggest and most difficult jobs I have ever worked on, but great fun. I had a superstar team working with me at The Mill, I cannot recall how many, but I know there were a lot!

Directed by Antoine Bardou Jacquet from Partizan Pictures, who also had a team producing the awesome hand drawn 2D characters.

Appliance Monster: Concept Art

This was a character I designed for a cool pitch. The idea was for the TV to transform into a monster. The challenge was to make the character emotive, so I designed the face to be the screen, and the stand to form most of the body and limbs. The other character was also in it, as the hero. If the pitch was successful, I would have made them in 3D, maybe one day.

John: Painting

This is a painting I made just for practice really. It’s based on a photograph of my friend Nathan Mckenna‘s father, John. I spent every waking hour with Nathan when I was a teenager, either chasing girls or drawing. His dad is quite possibly the most interesting men I have ever had the pleasure to have met.

Nathan is an awesome artist himself, and now works at The Mill with me. Sweet.

Vimto: Lowrider

This was a fun job to do. I lead the team on this and also supervised the shoot out in LA.

I modelled and detailed the characters whilst Amaan Akram designed the lighting pipeline for other render artists to pick up.

The track is called “Bounce n Boom” by DJ Box Bottom…by the way.

Some concept art I produced for a job that was unfortunately a non-starter. The idea was to imagine how a Transformer would look like if it was born from a Space Shuttle. I only wish I could do more of this stuff.

O2: Narks and Niggles

This was my first job when I got to The Mill, and also turned out to be the first job I lead there. Considering I didn’t know the pipeline, the software or the team, it turned out pretty cool. It was great fun working alongside the talented directors McBess and Simon who did a great job of designing the world of Niggles and Narks. The agency, VCCP were awesome to work for, good guys.

Crazy little character made for a very very quick pitch done at Nexus, would love to have seen it finished but unfortunately the agency went a different way. It’s hardly the best 3D in the world, but I just like him.

This was the first phase of a character I designed for a pitch. The idea was to make this for real, like a puppet. The design had to accommodate a man inside of it! I would have loved to see it getting made.

Autostadt: Character development

Autostadt is a visitor attraction adjacent to the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg, Germany. It’s basically a big fancy car museum. Nexus were asked to create a series of animations to help advise visitors about what to expect from their visit. I got to develop the look of the characters under the direction the great Jim Le Fevre. Unfortunately I had to leave the job early. I will post the movie when I can.
